StdntOS is currently being prepared for commercial release. This policy describes the current website, demo, and application implementation. It will be reviewed and updated before paid checkout and product delivery go live.
Overview
StdntOS is a student planning application and website. We aim to collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate the website, provide the product, support users, and complete purchases when purchasing becomes available.
The current interactive demo and desktop application are designed primarily around information stored locally in your browser or on your device rather than requiring a StdntOS user account.
StdntOS is based in Manitoba, Canada. For commercial handling of personal information by a private-sector organization, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) generally applies, together with any other privacy laws that may apply in the circumstances.
Academic and planning data stored locally
StdntOS lets users work with information such as:
- semesters and academic dates;
- course names, instructors, schedules, and notes;
- assignments, readings, tests, exams, and due dates;
- grades, coursework weights, grading scales, and GPA information;
- calendar entries, study blocks, and planning notes;
- application preferences and display settings.
In the current application design, this planning data is stored locally within the application environment on the user's device.
The interactive website demo similarly stores its sample state and visitor changes in browser storage. Those demo changes are intended only for the demo experience and are not a StdntOS cloud account.
Information entered into the interactive browser demo does not become part of a purchased StdntOS installation.
Information associated with visiting the website
Like most websites, the systems used to host and deliver StdntOS.com may process ordinary technical information needed to deliver pages to your browser. Depending on the hosting setup, this may include:
- IP address;
- browser and device information;
- operating system information;
- requested pages or files;
- approximate request time and technical logs;
- error or security information.
We do not intend to use this information to build advertising profiles about students.
Browser storage and preferences
The StdntOS website currently uses browser-local storage for limited functional purposes.
You can generally remove this information by clearing site data or browser storage using your browser's controls.
Third-party services
Some parts of the current product or website may rely on third-party technical services.
Google Fonts
The current StdntOS application loads the Inter typeface using Google Fonts. When a browser or application requests resources from an external provider, that provider may receive ordinary technical request information needed to deliver those resources.
Website hosting
When StdntOS.com is publicly hosted, the hosting provider may process technical information needed to serve the website, maintain availability, and protect the service.
Future checkout and downloads
StdntOS has not yet finalized its public checkout and digital-delivery provider. Before paid sales are enabled, this policy will be updated to identify the services used and explain what information they process.
When information may be shared
StdntOS does not intend to sell users' personal information.
Information may be disclosed where reasonably necessary to:
- operate or secure the website and services;
- work with service providers that help deliver the website, purchases, downloads, or support;
- investigate misuse, fraud, security incidents, or technical problems;
- comply with applicable legal obligations;
- protect the rights, safety, or property of StdntOS, its users, or others.
Retention
Browser-local preferences and demo data generally remain in your browser until they are removed, overwritten, or cleared through browser controls.
Local application data remains on the device within the application's storage unless it is removed through the application, operating system, or related storage controls.
If StdntOS later collects information for purchases, downloads, or support, retention periods will be based on the purpose for which the information was collected, applicable legal requirements, and reasonable business needs.
Security
We intend to use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information handled by StdntOS.
No electronic system can guarantee absolute security. Users should also protect access to their Windows account, device, browser profile, and any backups they create.
Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on the information involved and applicable law, you may contact StdntOS to ask:
- what personal information about you is held by StdntOS;
- how that information has been used;
- for access to personal information we hold about you;
- for correction of inaccurate personal information;
- questions about our privacy practices.
Information that exists only in your local copy of StdntOS or in your browser may not be available to us because it has not been provided to StdntOS.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as StdntOS changes, including when public hosting, checkout, downloads, support systems, or additional services are introduced.
When the policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
Privacy contact
A dedicated privacy and support contact address will be published before StdntOS begins accepting paid purchases.
Until then, this page should be treated as the pre-launch privacy disclosure for the current website, interactive demo, and application.
